As if it were the Olympics, the specialised IAM Patent 1000 ranking published by the magazine Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) awards gold, silver and bronze distinctions to the firms included in its list.
Well, in 2012, ABG IP earned the highest award in the patent prosecution category for the first time and we are proud to have maintained it year after year, including the latest edition that has recently been released. In addition, in 2024 we have also revalidated our bronze in the litigation area for the fourth consecutive year.
In addition to the podiums, IAM Patent 1000 also includes a review of ABG Intellectual Property which we believe shows that our effort to prioritise our clients and provide the best quality have been our primary competitive advantage:
“ABG is a company of the highest calibre which is set apart by the team’s ability to think strategically while always keeping the best interests of their customers in mind.
They possess an incredible aptitude for swiftly grasping new concepts and becoming true experts in the fields in which their clientele operate.
Their patience in explaining complex legal and intellectual property matters to non-experts is a significant advantage. ABG have consistently proven their prowess in finding innovative solutions to resolve any doubts and ultimately secure patent grants.”
To prepare its ranking, the publication conducts rigorous research in which they collect the firms’ applications and, according to them, carry out thousands of interviews with professionals in the intellectuall property sector both from companies and from external agencies and offices over the course of several months.
Eight IP specialists recommended
Eight partners from our team have been recognised as “recommended individuals”; seven of these are European Patent Attorneys, and our legal and litigation department’s attorney-at-law, Laura Montoya, joins the group.
After conducting its research, the publication offers the following comments of the experts on our team:
At the helm is co-founder Juan Arias, who comes highly recommended as an “experienced and professional attorney with a clear understanding of his clients’ needs and interests”. Arias shines in his role advising Técnicas Reunidas, a Spanish-based general contractor in the oil and gas sector, on IP strategy, which encompasses the drafting and prosecution of their entire portfolio.
Almudena Fernández, whose mastery is centred around pharmaceuticals and chemistry. Her prowess is exemplified in her work for the University of Navarra, where she offers valuable counsel on patent portfolio prosecution. This matter encompasses medicinal chemistry, micro- and nanoparticles for delivering biologically active ingredients, showcasing her diverse skill set.
Also on deck, Agustín Alconada is “no doubt one of the leading professionals in the patent attorney market”. Showcasing his skill, he has recently provided strategic counsel to Grifols, a global healthcare leader. This involved insightful guidance regarding IP strategy and the prosecution of a growing number of patent families.
