On 18 and 19 January ABG IP participated in Science 4 Industry, the largest international gathering of Deep Science, organized by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and BeAble Capital in La Nave (Madrid).
The event is an evolution of the Patents 4 Industry congress, and its goal is to connect universities and research centres that generate innovation with enterprises, venture capital firms, and institutions that can give tools and financing to help their innovations reach society.
In order for such a transfer to happen, intellectual property rights should protect the inventions and provide their owners with the exclusive right to exploit or licence those developments, as well as the ability to prevent third parties from manufacturing, selling, or using them without their permission.
Informing and advising participants on this topic has been ABG Intellectual Property’s primary mission during the two Science 4 Industry days. In particular, at the fair’s stand 14, the mission have been accomplished by:
- Juan Arias, ABG IP Managing Director, European Patent Attorney and Spanish Patent and Trademark Agent
- María Corral, Associate in our Biotechnology & Life Sciences Department and European Patent Attorney.
- André Santos, Associate in our Chemistry, Materials & Pharmacy Department and European Patent Attorney.
- Virginia Gómez, European Patent Attorney, Spanish Patent and Trademark Agent and Patent Advisor in our Chemistry & Materials Departments.
- Beatriz García, European Patent Attorney and Patent Advisor in our Engineering, Physics & ICTs Departments.
The expo and congress has been structured around three axes:
- Global Summit, a showcase in which Universities and Research Centres have had the opportunity to show their latest innovations.
- Investor Day, a networking day to connect startups with investors, and
- Facing Challenges Summit, a meeting of venture capital investment funds in science.
The event was a resounding success in terms of participation and attendance, and it was a pleasure for ABG Intellectual Property to take part.
