On 2 July 2019, Brazil joined the Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks. This means that from 2 October 2019 it will possible to designate Brazil in an International Trademark Registration.
Brazil has thus become the 105th member of the Madrid System, which now covers 121 countries.
The accession of Brazil to the Madrid System will open as well the possibility to Brazilian trademark owners of using the Madrid System to protect their marks in the other 120 territories of the System’s other 104 members by filing a single international application and paying a single set of fees.
