The difference between intellectual property and industrial property, the features of the different protection figures, their prosecution and their internationalization were some of the topics discussed in the eleventh edition of the “Conference on Patents and Intellectual Property” organized by the Escola de Enxeñería Industrial of the University of Vigo on 2 December.
The event took place in person and the presentations were given by Fernando Prieto, European Patent Attorney and partner in the Engineering and Physics Department of ABG Intellectual Property, and Tomás Llamas, European Patent Attorney and Associate in our Chemistry, Pharmacy and Materials Department.
The session aimed to promote the transfer of technology to the productive sector, in such a way that the results of academic research generate added value to society. For this purpose, the legal protection of innovation is key, since it prevents third parties from appropriating and profiting from the developments obtained and, therefore, allows to preserve its exclusivity and, with it, its competitive advantage.
This collaboration between ABG IP and the Escola de Enxeñería Industrial of the University of Vigo has already become an annual tradition that we thank the professor of the Escola de Enxeñería Industrial of the University of Vigo, Juan Pou. It is an honour for us to participate every year in that conference, something that also allows us to continue fulfilling our corporate commitment to disseminate the industrial and intellectual property protection system.
