We are proud to announce that our colleague Iain McGeoch has recently passed the European Qualifying Examination and became a European Patent Attorney. This brings us to fifteen qualified European Patent Attorneys providing exclusive services to our clients, nearly all of them trained at ABG Intellectual Property to the highest standards of quality.
We want to thank Iain for his effort, dedication and continuous commitment, he contributes very actively to our improvement and growth.
Iain joined ABG in 2014 and is responsible for managing ABG’s Basque Country office in Bilbao. His practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution, opinion work and patentability searches in different technological fields, with particular emphasis on the area of chemistry and pharma. He has also completed CEIPI training in European patent law.
Before joining ABG, Iain worked for three years in another IP firm in Bilbao. Previously Iain did research at pharma company Merck, where he worked on the chemical synthesis and SARs of antipsychotic agents, as well as at academia at the University of Oxford in the field of cancer drug discovery, specifically in the area of PRMT and N-acetylhexosaminidase inhibitors. Lastly, at the University of Glasgow, Iain was involved in the total synthesis of piperidine alkaloid (+)-α-conhydrine, and was awarded the Professor William Parker Memorial Medal for ranking top in his Chemistry degree.
