We are pleased to announce that Jorge Ibor, a member of the Biotechnology and Life Sciences Department at ABG Intellectual Property and Head of our Valencian Community office, has successfully passed the qualifying examinations that entitle him to practise as a Spanish Patent and Trademark Agent before the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM).
Passing these examinations represents a significant milestone in Jorge’s professional career and once again reinforces ABG IP’s firm commitment to technical and legal excellence in the field of Intellectual Property.
With the addition of Jorge Ibor, ABG IP now has a total of 11 Spanish Patent and Trademark Agents. This achievement further strengthens a team that also includes 23 European Patent Attorneys and 5 representatives before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). Together, these highly specialised professionals reflect the firm’s strong and ongoing commitment to technical and legal excellence in Intellectual Property.
Qualification as a Spanish Patent and Trademark Agent
Pursuant to the Implementing Regulations of Spanish Patent Act 24/2015 of 24 July, the examinations recently passed by Jorge Ibor assess:
“whether the candidate possesses sufficiently broad knowledge of the national and international rules governing and affecting intellectual property, and whether they are familiar with the practical application of such knowledge under the conditions typically encountered by a Spanish Patent and Trademark Agent in the exercise of their profession, including knowledge of foreign languages.”
Having passed the examination, Jorge may now apply for registration in the Special Register of Spanish Patent and Trademark Agents of the OEPM, thereby becoming legally authorised to advise, assist and represent third parties in the protection and enforcement of the various forms of Intellectual Property rights, as well as to defend the rights arising therefrom before the OEPM, in accordance with Article 176.1 of Spanish Patent Act 24/2015.
Jorge Ibor’s Professional Career at ABG IP
Jorge Ibor holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology from the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and a Master’s degree in R&D in Biotechnology and Biomedicine from the Universitat de València.
